CAN Do Kids does not require a referral to offer services to new patients. However, if you are looking at billing your own insurance for Occupational Therapy Services a referral will be needed to continue consultations. It is also helpful to outline and reference a well-detailed medical history of your child for consulting and any interventions. some insurance policies require referrals to process reimbursement forms. Check with your insurance representative on the requirements for occupational therapy or functional therapy coverage within your policy. Most insurances will not cover consulting or health coaching.
We do not accept insurance for our services. You may speak to your insurance representative to determine what you will need to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Our fax number can be found on our 'Contact Us' page.
To begin your journey with Occupational Therapy or Functional Therapy, we recommend filling out and submitting our 'New Patient Inquiry' form as soon as you are interested in pursuing services. This will start the process of setting up your child in our system and working towards scheduling a time to meet via telehealth.
Our Occupational Therapy Consultations or Functional Therapy Consultations are scheduled as time permits.
If it is determined that an evaluation is warranted, these will be scheduled based on proximity and availability.
You are under no obligation to proceed with appointments with us if you can obtain services for your child at another facility before we call you for an opening.
An initial consultation at CAN Do Kids is a one-hour one-on-one with our occupational therapist. This appointment is scheduled as telehealth and is held over Zoom/Teams unless otherwise requested. All involved parents and or guardians of the child's daily life are recommended to join and can attend from different locations by having a copy of the meeting ID and logging on from a computer, tablet, or smartphone. The child is not required to be present for this appointment and it would be best to be able to have your full focus for the entirety of the consultation. This appointment will go into detail about your observations and main concerns for your child that were outlined in the intake paperwork that is submitted before the appointment. The appointment will also include some parent education on Occupational Therapy intervention, child development, sensory integration, diet, tech addiction, and digital health.

An occupational therapy evaluation at CAN Do Kids is conducted in person with standardized testing in the areas of fine and gross motor skills, primitive reflex integration, and senses. Testing and score comparison for age-appropriate development is based on a standardized test. Evaluations are scheduled for 2hr duration periods that include one-on-one parent/guardian consultation and education. Results from the evaluation will include the standardized test report, occupational therapy initial evaluation report, and a home exercise program specific to the results of your child's evaluation scores and where they are in regard to age-appropriate level of development.
Occupational therapy training sessions are 60 minutes long and are focused on the parent's concerns and the child's challenges. This begins with an extensive parent intake which allows a trained therapist to determine a path to success. Once completed, a 1:1 meeting for 60 minutes is scheduled with a therapist which is accomplished through Zoom/Teams or Facetime.
